Meet Kate

Kate Curry is a yoga teacher, retreat leader, teacher trainer and lover of travel and meaningful experiences. For more than twenty-four years, she has guided students through movement practices that cultivate strength, resilience, self-awareness, and connection—both on and off the mat.

Her yoga journey began while attending a class at the corporate fitness center where she worked. With a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a background in group fitness and personal training, Kate quickly discovered that yoga offered something more than physical exercise. It became a practice of curiosity, growth, and coming home to herself—something she now strives to share with every student she teaches.

Kate completed her 200-hour teacher training through Power Yoga Works and later earned her 500-hour Kunga Yoga certification through the Wilmington Yoga Center. Along the way, she has continued to deepen her studies through workshops and trainings with respected teachers including Kristin Cooper-Gulak, Donna Gardner, Marlyssa Sullivan, Michael "Mukti" Buck, Deon De Wiit, David Emerson, Josh Summers, and Kathryn Budig. She is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) as well as a E-RYT 500hr instructor, a CYT Level 3 through American Yoga Council, a 5Elements Flow Certified Instructor, a Warriors At Ease Level 1 Instructor, and has completed advanced training in Yin Yoga through the Summers School of Yin Yoga.

Kate’s teaching style is grounded, thoughtful, and accessible. She believes in moving mindfully and purposefully through each posture and breath, honoring the uniqueness of every body while creating space for both challenge and ease. Her classes blend alignment-based movement, breath awareness, and practical wisdom, encouraging students to build strength, cultivate resilience, and approach themselves with curiosity and compassion.

Beyond the studio, Kate is passionate about travel, exploration, and creating experiences that bring people together. Whether she's exploring a local market, wandering through a charming small town, finding the perfect local coffee shop, or planning an international adventure, she finds joy in exploring new places and perspectives.

This love of connection, movement, and discovery naturally led her to create Intentional Journeys—immersive retreat experiences that combine yoga, community, exploration, and personal growth in inspiring destinations near and far. Thoughtfully curated and intentionally designed, these experiences invite participants to step away from the demands of daily life and reconnect with themselves, each other, and the world around them.

When she’s not teaching, leading retreats, recording the Empowering Movement Podcast, or dreaming up her next adventure, you'll find Kate spending time with family and friends, walking her Giant Schnauzer Rollo, and embracing an active, healthy lifestyle.

Because at the heart of it all, Kate believes that growth happens when we stay curious, keep moving, and remain open to the journey ahead.
